| Enhances: The use of new technologies to transport us made transportation faster and offers a wider variety. | Obsoletes: It took away our reliance on animal transportation |
| Retrieves/rekindles: Thinking of the past…our main transportation was walking…walking…and more walking! | Reverses: Although we have a large variety to choose from the technology that would offer futuristic opportunities would be the flying automobile. |
Course Project for EDUC-8848 The objective of our Course Project is to discover why an emerging technology became obsolete; and the reasons for adopting the technology that replaced it. Utilizing McLuhan’s Laws of Media and the six prominent forces that drive emerging technology to analyze both the obsolete technology and the new, emerging technology.

Nice graphics Sheila. So far our group has chosen the following four transporation emerging technologies:
ReplyDeleteMelinda - Hydrogen Automobile Technology
Marion - Pneumatic Tube Technology
Sheila - Flying Automobile Technology
Jesus - Teleportation Technology
I did some research and found that your flying automobiles are already in production in Massachesetts. A 'chain progression' of our technologies might then look something like this.
Flying Autos, Pneumatic Tubes, Hydrogen Autos (these last two might be interchanged), and Teleportation.
What do you think?
This is very well thought out! Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that they have them in production!
Where will they use them?
I would love to have one...but I don't want the price tag!! :o)
Nice post.Your model took us from the agricultural to the industrial, to the technological ages. Pretty cool
ReplyDeleteI love your graphics for your tretrad! In my fifth grade class we are studying western expansion. We have talked about the stagecoach and horse/wagon as a means of transportation. The kids always ask, "What about cars and planes?" I have to explain to them that those means of transportation had not been invented yet. So it is nice to see the progression of where we started and where we are headed.
